I dont know what the analysis of Miracle Grow is ie NPK ( nitrogen phosphate potash ) but you need something like 5:5:5 probably best to use a Blood Fish and Bone meal fertilizer slow release and not as horrible as it sounds!!!!
Can buy it in all DIY and garden centres0 -
I used chicken manure pellets on my blackcurrent last year and got my biggest crop to date, I have just finished putting the pellets down again this week-end, here's to another good year for berries.0

Chicken manure is high in nitrogen which is not whats needed for woody and fruiting bushes as it causes too much leafy growth.

i used old tomato fertiliser this year on all my fruit bushes and trees as they need potash in the springtime, now i have put blood fish and bone round them all, wait till its going to rain though and it gets washed in nicely0

My mother in law has given me a box of potash to feed our fruit trees and plants - no idea what it is but she swears by it!
Have given them all some today - will post again if they all die in a week!Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!0 -
i think the potash is to encourage fruiting0
