Being chased by a Cougar!

Hi Everyone
I recently received a letter from Cougar Financial Services saying they were acting on behalf of Capital One.
I have a credit card with capital one around £1000 still to pay, have never missed a payment and always paid more than the minimum.
I recently had some fraud activity on my bank account and the bank suspended all direct debits and payments for a while whilst they investigated.
I contacted Capital One and informed them of the situation and I would continue my payments once my bank was back in order.
Then I received this letter from Cougar stating that I must pay them the entire balance immediately as I had changed address and not told capital one. I have only recently starting renting my home out and moved in with my partner and am only just in the process of changing my contact details as most of my mail goes to the home I rent out.
A few days later I received a letter from Power2Contact who have said they will visit my home to collect £1834.15!
I desperately want to sort this situation quickly, I am going through a very tough time at the moment and the last thing I need is people knocking on the door.
Thanks in advance

Your statement
'I have a credit card with capital one around £1000 still to pay, have never missed a payment and always paid more than the minimum.'
seems to contradict
'I contacted Capital One and informed them of the situation and I would continue my payments once my bank was back in order.'
It sounds like you did defaul on your payments and Cap One have passed your account to a DCA of their choice. You can make an offer to repay what you can afford using the National Debtline guide0 -
Hi
Thanks for the reply,
I only missed the payments due to the bank freezing all activity on my account and told capital one that I there would be a delay on the payments.
Should I contact Cougar by letter or telephone as I've read in the past not to deal with them over the phone
Thanks0 -
Why did you change address and not tell capital one?
Plus you can make cc payments a million different ways?0 -
I did actually tell them in a telephone conversation, and I haven't actually moved as yet my house is about to be put on the rental market and I have been living with my partner. And as I said the bank had frozen all activity on my account so I was unable to access any funds at all0

the best thing for you to do would have been to get a relative to pay for you or something. so that;s a mistake there.
im not very well familiar with conumer law after a DCA has been called through. but i have heard of some people fighting their corner and only paying the original debt interest free after long drawn out fights with the DCA. Read around that and figure out the best approach. I certainly wouldnt pay 1800 for a 1000 debt0
