  • I spend too much money ....

So ... the weekly spend challenge isn't going well this week:o:

    Groceries £47.83 / £40
    Hair £25/£40
    Misc £5/£10 *
    Unplanned spend £11.45 *
    Total £89.28/ £90

    * ended up using this to pay Mum for the loo rolls - should really come out the grocery budget but errrr well

    And it's only Tuesday :eek::eek:

Honestly ... groceries is killing me .... this bl00dy diet isn't helping :(

Bl00dy milk accounts for £8 of that and it accounts for 1/4 of my budget:eek: how on earth am I supposed to stick to the budget when that much goes on milk!

Where I really struggle with trying to balance it weekly (tried monthly but that doesn't work either :o) is that I see stuff that is on offer but that I will need in the next couple of weeks so it seems silly not to get it while it's cheap ... I also tend to bulk buy when stuff is a good price - which saves money long term but b00gers up the weekly / monthly budgets *sigh*

I just can't get to grips with it at all :( - and it was a bigger budget this week as had made last weeks smaller than usual arrrgggghhhhh
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

  • Yup ... I got a load of loo & kitchen roll this week as Mum was going to F*foods & they sell it (and there's not one near me!) - and it will last for ages ... but doing something like that wreaks the weekly budget but if I didn't do things like that, I'd be in even worse situation later on!

mmm might have to have a rethink (again!) ...... weekly doesn't seem to work - I did try splitting it and having a "stock up month" every 3rd month last year (that was suffolk lass:T suggestion) which seemed to work quite well .... but no idea how I'd keep track of that on the WSC :eek: *sigh*

    Will have a think tomorrow

is it any special sort of milk you have to drink rising ?
  • Yup - Lactofree

It's fab as it's meant that I can have milk and means at least I'm getting some diary (which I've been lacking for many years!) but it only comes in 1 litre cartons & they're £1.30 each!

As I'm not allowed things like porridge (which I'd usually have for breakfast) and shouldn't have a lot of bread (so am keeping this for a sandwich at lunchtime), I'm going through loads as having cereal every morning!

  • So .... I owe them £12.25 which isn't too bad taking the above into consideration.

I think I will pay this off tomorrow - and hope they don't try to shoot my d/debit sky high - they tried to put it up to something silly like £118 this time last year and then said it would be for only 3 months ..... sorry but the reason I pay by d/debit is so the payments are the same year round as I can't bl00dy afford to pay huge amounts!

PAID :D - I was redirected to my c/cards secure payment authorisation site so happy with the security of it!

Did it tonight as I really need and must have a NSD tomorrow .... not doing at all well so far!

Can't stay awake any longer & am yawning my head off so think I'll bung Maisie outside and head off to bedy-bies! :D

have you thought about maybe almond milk or anything? you can make your own almond milk, you can also get calcium from ways other than milk if that is a concern for you

why are you not allowed porridge?
