  • See this home management binder lark ..... just came across this pic on one of the sites:

You know ..... I've sort of been doing this for years!

    I already have folders for:
    • Pets
    • Car
    • Manuals & Guarantees (receipts stapled to manual!)
    • Insurance docs
    • Yearly one for bills / important docs!

I haven't ever had the bits with meal planning / cleaning schedules / etc that I've done in my new one tho'!:)

So .... maybe I am quite organised ;)

Mmmmmmmmmm Maybe I am a bit more organised than I thought too :D

I have something similar except mine is all in one of those big lever arch files with dividers inbetween everything. This is a change from days gone by when everything was stuffed in the drawer underneath my bed. Outta sight, outta mind :o

I "found" 4 bag-for-life bags stuffed with old docs :o under the bed not very long ago - all now cleared out & shredded :T

Boy it felt good to get rid of them .... and was also a good reminder of how much better things are now :) (and actually good to remember how bad things were so I don't go back there again!)

About bloomin' time in my case :rotfl:

Of course, I now want new folders :o mine are all different colours, shapes & sizes and look really untidy :rotfl:

Seems to be a lot of wants going on just now .... I always get like this when I've no spare money!

Right ...... a freebie coming up - nearly time for Maisie's afternoon walk - we're going to try the footpath I saw yesterday .... wish us luck that it's not a mud bath!:)

  • Ohhh my

Decided I need to start thinking about what I'm going to eat when I go back to work!

I have a very sweet tooth :o so am terrible for eating things I really shouldn't.

Wondered if Muffins would be any better for me :rotfl:did a very quick search and the first recipe I've come across is this one

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1572/banana-and-blueberry-muffins-

Honestly, made for me :) I always have bananas (usually need using up!) and make loads of banana loaf (but it's not good for me as contains a lot of sugar & then there's the butter that goes on it :o:eek:) and loads of blueberries too (and have loads in the freezer (great on pancakes;))

Have printed & it's going in the new folder (and may well get made tomorrow if I'm good - I even have muffin cases which I think I've had since I was in my first flat:rotfl::o) - also printed off the Winter / Summer Chicken one from Slowly so that's gone in too!:T

Really need to try one new recipe a week ... and stick to my meal planning!

  • OMG I'm now wanting to re-organise & tidy everything:o

I've got 2 plastic sleeved things (oh lordy I am terrible at explaining)

    like this

    31VOgz5UaPL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Anyway, if I've come across a recipe I really fancy in a mag etc, I've cut it out and stuck onto an A4 page in here - I have one for meals & one for desserts / baking ;)

I do actually use them ;) (mainly as it's where things like the banana loaf are kept so I don't lose them) but really don't use them enough & there's loads in there that have never been tried :o

So .... had a few more to add :) & decided to have a clear out - there was quite a few recipes with pork chops - I am hereby admitting to the world ... I don't like pork chops!:o I had 4 in the freezer that I bought last Christmas eve :o:o (YS @ C00P & my fridge/freezer had just been delivered so was empty) ..... am down to 3 *sigh* - I will use them but I'm NOT buying any more .... ever!

Anyway (got sidetracked - sorry:o) - have cleared out the recipes I will never use so have room to put the new ones away & space for more!

Will also look at this when I'm meal planning & try to use the recipes I've never tried!

The only problem with having them in this sort of folder is that there's no order to it - eg there are 3 different recipes for Cornish Pasties :( which I love & have never tried to make:o I really should pick one ... but which one :rotfl:

  • Ohhhhhh just thought of a project I can put in my household binder ;);):) - sort out the recipe binders and maybe try to group things together in an A4 ring-binder by ..... by what tho' :o meats things are easy enough I guess - but then it gets more difficult with things like Eggs / Frittattas etc - mmmmmm have a vague memory of trying to do this before & giving up!

It might be a looooong project:)

We use a very similar system, although for recipes its a normal ring binder with a note on the first page about where thing are ... For eg

    A) starters
    B) main meals Chinese
    C) main meals Indian
    D) main meals Japanese

Etc etc then we have them divided with the dividers ( think I paid 25p for them)

I have my gardening ones in 4 folders 3 months in each so that it's kinda relevant, although tbh if I just put them in a folder marked wet they would probably still be relevant

We have folders for pensions, credit cards and other debts, savings, mortgage, insurances and tax .... I'm sure we have others as well but can't think ... I keep them all in a cupboard on a shelf so that they ate easy to find and sort

I also have a folder kept in my kitchen where I shove everything till I'm ready to file them away and empty it about once a month, keeping all things I'm working on in there till I've finished with them

For me it makes life easier and less hassle
  • I wish I was as organised as you all....our paperwork tends to build up and build up before I eventually file it or bin it.
