Hi, i want a new laptop, i have thousands of photos should i be looking at laptops which has a large ram or large gb or both? thanks

photos (jpg's) dont take up much space, they are saved on hard disk, not ram!!

As said, Go for the Hard drive capacity as this is what you will need, RAM is not much of an issue unless you do some heavy photo editing in programs like photoshop.
Also remember BACKUP if you have not already.0 -

If you need more HDD place, just get an external HDD

Forgot to say, any modern laptop could store hundreds of photos. Assuming each photos with 15MB with 1000 of them. So 15 x 1000 = 15000 MB = 15GB.
By the way, if you don't really need a DVD drive, I suggest you have a look at Asus X501A or Acer V5. IMO, They are good looking machine under £4000
