Cancelling direct debit to old provider?

Hi

I have moved from EON to FU on 29th November, as I have calculated I will have enough credit with EON for my final bill, should I now cancel my direct debit due out on the 15th, or should I leave it? They say my final bill is being calculated, but dont know how long it takes.

    Hi mikeassured,

    It's up to you if you would like to cancel the Direct Debit. Once we have received the meter readings from the new supplier it only takes a couple of weeks to produce the final bill.

    Some customers do like to leave this active as we can then claim the final balance and refund any left over credit straight back to the bank account.

    If you have a credit after the final bill has been produced and you cancel the Direct Debit we would have to send a cheque, which can be a bit slower.
