First Utility

Neither have I but the fine print in the offer from first:utility needs to be read and read again. I personally don't like it due to the huge discount of £180 per year which you need to contribute to by paying £15 a month more than what the annual amount of the bill comes to divided by 12 then you can only claim it if every direct debit is paid on time and you have stayed with first:utility for more than a year. Every month that you stay with first:utility after that will cost you £15 more than it would have it was a nice easy to understand flat price.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I was looking at their iSave v12 dual fuel, the rates and all that seem fine. It says 'No early termination fee; after initial fixed price period' but doesn't say how long this period is?0

Do a forum search on FU before you sign up-lots of billing and CS issues. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I've just signed up but their customer service is awful.
Regretting it0 -
Hi,
Has anyone had any experiance with First Utility for Gas and Electricity?
They've some how quoted me less than my EDF fixed for 2012 plan that is coming to an end soon.
Obviously I like cheaper bills, but I've never had any dealings with them.
Thanks,
I've not had any dealings with them, but if they are cheapest, I suggest you go with them
There are a lot of moaners on this board. (or maybe it's just the one person)
Whichever supplier you decide upon, I can probably find a negative comment about them.
You've suffered EDF, can things get any worse?0 -

First Utility - I switched to them because of advice on this site, i.e. that despite previous bad press they had significantly cleaned up their customer service act. Well so far my experience has been bad. I made a mistake registering and have spent over an hour on hold with them over the past 2 calls, at my expense of course, with no resolution. I've emailed them - lets see if that works. The truth is you get what you pay for and anyone looking for a cheap service, guess what, you get a cheap service!!0

I don't remember reading anything like that on this site?
Perhaps you could point me in the right direction0 -
The internet is awash with negative feed-back. I registered on Sunday, then they told me I need to pay a deposit because my credit rating is not great. Fair enough, but I waited for 25 minutes to speak to someone about that.
The deposit they require is £300. Well, I would have thought the purpose is to save money, really...But then by googling customer reviews I found that there are other complaints about them, like never sending the final bill when you do want to leave them and even messing up your bill.
And, you guessed it, customer service is not that prompt in emailing and answering the phone.
I cancelled my registration and would not consider joining them soon. The funny thing is that they come first on a Which comparison page, that's how I ended up finding them.0
