csa and income support help

hi could anyone help me out. my ex partner has moved to a new flat so now has shared care of my son. i phoned the csa and advised them and they re-assessed my claim and reduced the maintenance by half. i sent copy of the letter to income support that day and asked them to backdate it 2 weeks to coincide with the csa (who take it from the date you inform them) i recieved a giro yesterday but they have only done it from the date they recieved the letter 13/04/2007.so there is now a 2 week gap and my ex partner won't give me the money because he has csa letter stating that from 01/04/2007 he only pays half.
does anyone know whether income support do backdate in these circumstances, i asked them to in my original letter but they haven't. this means i've lost £80 which i can't afford.
thanks for your help

Im not sure if there is anything you can do apart from appeal, I would imagine they would take it from the date of your letter

hi thanks for your reply. not very fair if it is that way because i couldn't inform income support any earlier because i had to await the csa figure. i will just have to appeal and see what they say. thanks0
