    2013 ?
And you think the day the torys got into power they were able to instantaneously reverse the 130 billion deficit?

I wonder what you will be saying in the next General Elections mandate IF you do not manage to get onto the 'right-track' and at least move aheadwith the deficit instead of shunting into the sidings and remaining stationary.

Who would you blame for that?

Funny thing statistics ain't they, just think this austerity govt has increased UK debt by more then all the debt accumulated prior to 1997, world wars, oil crisis, IMF bailout, I am just saying :o
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

We haven't had any austerity yet, as has been pointed out many times. We still have insane levels of spending.

Unfortunately the country got so used to that under Gordon Brown that even the suggesting of tiny spending cuts has many morons foaming at the mouth in protest.

Ah, statistics hey? Looking at the absolute level of debt doesn't give you the full picture, you need to look at it in terms of debt to GDP ratio's

Kind of reverses the conclusions reached when looking at those graphs posted from 1979 to 1997 and 1997 to 2010.

Proves that you can just about show anything with statistics. Its how you interpret them that counts.

I find the last graph on that page quite interesting.

According to Laura though, this graph must be a lie as it shows the deficit coming down under the tories having peaked in Labour's last year

So, every time you catch yourself telling a good excuse or putting the blame on others for a particular result, remember that you will not be taking responsibility for your outcomes and you’ll end up receiving more of the same in the future. When you accept the responsibility, questions begin to arise, such as: how can I do it differently, how can I get this or that result. In other words, you’ll start focusing on what really matters

I am assuming when you say " you" you mean "the tories"? I am not a member of the party although my political views are right of centre. However I do believe tho that the state has a role to play in so far as the NHS, welfare, pensions, etc etc

All I can say is, at least the tories are trying (albeit being supressed by the Lib Dems) to make inroads into the deficit by cutting the fat and inefficiencies that were allowed to grow under the Labour years. Cuts are being hampered by the Lib Dems which are needed to get this deficit under control.

Labour one minute are claiming that the tories are nasty for making cuts, and then the next minute claiming that its naughty of the tories to allow the deficit to go up. They dont have an answer. They are clueless. They havent proposed any ideas. The only thing Labour know how to do is go bankrupt. They cant even manage their own finances let alone the country's (Labour HQ a few years ago was under seige from baliffs due to the party practically being bankrupt until they were bailed out by the unions).

Exactly 350,000 council jobs gone and I don't see any drop in service, the bins still get emptied, although it still requires two workers one sat in the drivers seat while the other empties the public bins in the park lol.

I have a great idea for public sector workers to get an instant pay rise! Cancel their union subscription!
