seller giving excuses

i have been chasing a order on ebay for over 3 weeks now they kept telling me due to flooding they couldnt send my item yet have got feedback for 14 items that ended on the same day as mine (most only minutes before and after) and around 6 items that ended few days after mine.

they claim it was sent last thursday.

i got this item for 99p yet was willing to pay up to £10 but never got outbidded so got it for a bargain price as it worth around £15. do you think the seller knows this and hope to make more money off it another time?

when is the right time to complain.

  • check the sellers current listing to see if they have relisted it, you can also check their completed listings to see if it has been resold.

You have 45 days from date of payment to make an Item not received case. (though i would not wait this long)

it all depends whether you believe the seller or not, if you do then wait a few more days for delivery and if it does not turn up then start a case, or open a case now, you can always close it if the item arrives.
if i had known then what i know now
  • well opened a case and they said the reason they couldnt post at same time as other item was the size of the item meant they had to go to the post office (it was not much bigger than a dvd box). i have been offered a refund.

as i been offered a refund can bad or neutral feedback be left?

Yes, it can. A refund is what the seller should be offering - it's not a goodwill gesture that will make everything, including the waste of three weeks waiting for something while the seller lied to you, OK again. Presumably the feedback they have acquired is for selling (feedback for buying can be accumulated just by paying for an item which doesn't require a buyer to even leave their house, although I wonder whether someone flooded out would even have internet access during that time or whether your item was ruined along with the rest of the household contents). Even if it wasn't, the item should have been sent three weeks ago. There's no real excuse even if the person was not active on eBay.

You can leave a neg, report as a non-performing seller and leave poor DSRs - and I feel you should, otherwise they will think it's OK to do this again.

  • sellers cant leave bad or neutral feedback for buyers if thats what you mean?

i think even if they refunded you then you can still leave them what feedback you feel is right.
