I have an xbox 360 and a home cinema system which i can't hook up to it.
I would like if possible to use the existing 5.1 speakers (wired under the carpets) with my xbox, and spend near to £100 if possible.
Most av recievers are too big to fit in my cabinet, but i have found one - samsung AV-R610 for a little over £100 but no stock anywhere for this price, only £180 at richer sounds.
Are there any fairly cheap dvd players with optical inputs available??
Or any other suggestions?

to be honest you will struggle to find a dvd receiver with an optical input. If you do it will be big money.
I opted for an av receiver. Yes I agree they are on the large side but the sony one i purchased for £200 has HDMI input and output so no need for the opticals0
