Does your dad actually have a driving licence?
Going from fourth to first is a pretty stupid thing to do, would only expect a learner to do it.

You can't stick it in first straight from 4th at 80.
And if you think you can, next time you're rolling to a stop for traffic lights or a junction, try slipping it into first earlier than you normally would.This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0 -

And with regards to the driving, if its late at night, no one else around, roads are empty, weather conditions good and high visability, if he wishes to put his life at risk he can.
If it was a copper with blue lights on many of the people that posted above me would have said its safe, without knowing your dads driving expereince and the car its hard to say but if it will comfortably do that, it seems fairly safe, or as safe as 120mph round a bend can be0 -
I think it's time to refuse to get in the car when you're dad's driving.0
