Eon retaining overpayment

Having switched my father to a better dual fuel deal I am now having trouble getting Eon to refund him the excess they took on DD by insisting on constantly raising his DD without agreement.
Whats best to do in this situation.
Spoke to someone again today who says she can see a record of my previous contact and she can't understand herself what the hold up is but 'it's not her department' so will have to get someone else to ring me.
Are they free to do this to hang on to your money to their advantage?
My father is a very elderly pensioner and if I wasn't involved I feel they would be conveniently 'forgetting' this.

The key to this is how long has it been since the Switch took place and Eon issued their Final Bill.

Repayments of credits due after an account closure vary from supplier to supplier, but if 3 weeks have elapsed and the Call centre have agreed money is due and have commented that they don't understand why it has not been paid, it's time to WRITE a letter headed Complaint

    Hi flossy_splodge

I'm sorry your father is still waiting for his refund.

Has the account been closed to actual meter readings or estimates?

On changing supplier, the new supplier will let us have the meter readings they intend to use to open their account. We'll then use these same readings to close the old account.

Sometimes, there's a delay receiving the readings and accounts are closed using estimates. Refunds are then delayed until we receive the actual readings. This is to make sure the amount we send back is correct.

Has the Direct Debit been cancelled? If it has, this can also cause a delay as we'll need to send the refund by cheque. This takes longer.

Whatever the reason, the advisor you spoke to should have been able to let you know what was happening and I'm sorry they weren't more helpful.

Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you'd like me to take a look. Will be happy to do this.
