Barclays CPP mis-sold advice

hi
Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice/information.
My father has been with the barclays for 10yrs+ and about 3 yrs ago he had to start paying £30 a month for a card protection plan CPP on his current account. Not a credit card account just normal debit card account. He was told it was something he had to have in case his card was lost or stolen or used without his knowledge.
Anyway when I found out about it I told him he did not have to have it like he had been told. He called cancelled and put in a complaint about it saying he was forced to have it and has never sign or agreed to have the insurance.
After weeks of the looking into it they have told him that he agreed to it in branch and have closed the case.
We have asked for proof of this agreement many times and they have never sent anything.
They are now saying they have closed the case and that is it. We not agreed to their outcome.
What can we do next??
can we claim for refund like PPI???
any help would be great
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread

How long ago was the formal complaint made.
What did the formal response to the complaint say, exactly, in particular about what options were available if the response given was not acceptable?0 -
Btw, was reading a thread about something very similar here:

The formal response was via telephone call on Thursday waiting for written response to come but they said all their investigation were done and the CPP was agree to be put into place by my father at the branch . They have nothing that my dad sign to agree to it and he was always under the impression that he had to have it as part of the account0 -

I don't think that was the question (and I don't think Barclays would respond to a formal complaint by telephone. On their website they say they will send a final response)
The question whitepaper asked was:
"How long ago was the formal complaint made."
The official response does not need to be signed or agreed by your dad. I suggest you wait for it to arrive if you now understand it is on its way and then read it as it will answer the questions you posed in the OP.... and your other duplicate thread.0 -

The complaint was made 2 mths ago they said they sent final response out over a week ago. I rang them to see what wad going on as they had not been on contact since complaint started that is why they told me via telephone and that the case had been closed a week ago .0 -

On the strength that you have received a final response on the telephone (and that you haven't received one in writing within 8 weeks) you're entitled to take the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service and I would.0 -

Thank you for your help I will look into doing so.0 -
I don't think that was the question (and I don't think Barclays would respond to a formal complaint by telephone
The FSA defines a complaint as "any oral or written expression of dissatisfaction, whether justified or not, from, or on behalf of, a person about the provision of, or failure to provide, a financial service or a redress determination, which:
(a) alleges that the complainant has suffered (or may suffer) financial loss, material distress or material inconvenience; and
(b) relates to an activity of that respondent, or of any other respondent with whom that respondent has some connection in marketing or providing financial services or products, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service."
See here
That means the 8 weeks has already started (and ended) - so I agree with Alpine Star, the complainant can now go to FOS0
