Boiler cal call

Hi all,
My step father has made a bit of a boo boo today. He recieved a cold call from an unknown source offering, what seems to be boiler cover.
The number was (0844) 46579988, he was sold boiler cover i think, he has been charged over £100 for something he doesn't need, and we can't for the life of us work out why he gave them card details over the phone.
THe details he has are a HPU number of some sort: HPU followed by 6 digits, but that's it.
Can anyone help me get more info on this one?

You'll receive postal confirmation of this at which point you'll be able to cancel under distance selling regulations.
Any problems with cancellation can be taken up with the credit card provider as the transaction is over £100.
Shouldn't be a problem :-)0
