hanging lcd tv on plasterboard

:hello:
I want to hang an lcd tv on my plasterboard wall, the boards are held up by vertical metal things that are about a metre apart. Where I want the tv positioned, one of the metal things will go down the centre of the tv if thats any better. There are no horizontal supports other than on the ceiling and the floor.
So the question is will a 26" tv fall off or is the wall more than good enough to support the weight? Dont quite fancy breaking the tv before i turn it on
The other option is to cut a bit out of the plasterboard and build something for it to sit on, but then the tv wont be where I actually want it, instead it will be 30cms to the right, which is not directly down the centre of my bed.
Cheers, muggy

How thick is the plasterboard? My mate has his plasma hanging on his plasterboard wall but it's on the wall between his house and the neighbours and its really thick board. He mounted the bracket with some big bolts that open out inside the wall. Funny thing is when he was drilling the hole he didn't realize it was a plaster board wall and kept drilling until he ended up in his neighbours lounge.Nothing to see here, move along.0

You could use a plasterboard fixing called a Redidrive , they are very good and can hold a good weight - depending on the state of the plasterboard.
If the TV fits on a bracket then i'd use some toggle bolts.

hi, i have a 26" LCD on my plasterboard walls, i have no metal studs what i could of fixed to, but i have the wall bracket fixed to the wall by 8xplasterboard fixings and they are enough, , remember the projection of the tv from the wall is only 100mm of so, therefore weight distribution will almost all go back into the plasterboard wall
if you have a metal stud you can fix to, well theres no problem.0
