Oven cleaners - which is best?

There seems to be a lot of oven cleaners on the market and many seem to be a spray on compound that you simply spray on the oven. leave it for a while and then clear it off. I guess htere may be other types too.

Last week I cleaned the over with Mr Muscle and it seemed relatively ok but I'm going to have to have a second go at it to get it properly clean.

I want to tap into forum users experience of which products they think perform best.

I swear by Oven Pride - a thick acidic liquid that you spread around the inside of the oven, it also comes with a large ziplock bag that you put your oven shelves in to soak in the liquid.

Oven Pride is currently on offer for £2.99 at Poundstretcher and Possibly Wilko's. There's also a similar budget project called Doctor Magic Oven Sense available at B&M etc.

Fairy Power Spray, leave it at least 10 minutes ,wipe out. Only a slight chemical smell when you turn the oven on next time ,which soon disappears.
Do I need it or just want it.

Another fan of Oven Pride here. When we moved into this house 3 years ago the oven was filthy and I thought I'd never get it clean. I used Oven Pride and the oven looked new when it was done, and that was just one application.I won't use anything else now.
  • My colleagues at work were talking about going to Costco to get some oven cleaner which apparantly beats all others hands down. Unfortunately I don't know details about it but can find out next week when I am back to work. Although maybe someone else knows the one they are referring to.

Definitely Oven Pride. The bag for cleaning the shelves is excellent in particular.

Oven Pride is also the Which Best Buy oven cleaner. :) Mr Muscle was one of the worst scorers in their most recent test.

Cost me well over £4 from Tesco so will have to try Poundstretcher next time.

Cif Oven Cleaner - has the distinct advantage of not making the kitchen a no-go zone with noxious fumes.

It's a green gel that you spray on, and it dissolves greasy grim before your eyes. Must be nano-technology or something. :D

  • Oven Pride is the only thing I've ever found that really works.
