We still do santa. Our children are all in their late twenties, and at Christmas we usually have them, plus their partners, my 84 year old mother in law and her 90 year old sister. They all put stockings out and all behave like small children on Christmas morning when they open them, often at about 6am. The biggest child of all is the 90 year old, who absolutely loves it. My mother is in a nursing home, and she also gets a stocking (put out by the staff) and then comes for lunch, which is as much as she can manage. She has no memory at all and doesn't appear to have any idea that its Christmas, but she loves opening the presents and she loves shiny, sparkly things, so her stocking is full of shiny jewelry, chocolate and sweets.

we dont do the stockings (maybe Im the one you were talking about lol) we already have presents in our stockings as does the cat. We use the stockings for silly little gifts and then the main stuff under the tree. I always seem to go overboard every year (i cant help it I love christmas) and end up getting OH way more but that doesnt bother me (its the thought that counts and all that) as always the tree is filled with stuff Ive bought and Oh has complained its too much (I dont see it as being too much if its stuff thats needed and used!) but she doesnt know I have one more plan up my sleeve.

This year Ive bought chocolate coins and going to leave messages with them with clues of where the next one is. It will eventually lead to the suitcase in the office where inside it will be 100 egptian pounds towards a spa treatment on our upcoming holiday! Im hoping this little idea keeps the idea of santa in mind!

We did! Still do even with a DD! Only when at my parents and with my brother. We all buy a secret santa style gift for every other adult, max cost of £5, pop it in his or her's sack with no labels... Oh and we buy OURSELVES a chocolate item (selection box, choc orange, whatever WE actually want!) - we normally end up with 6 items from 'santa'!

We still do the same now, even though DD has a stocking!

  • Hi everyone! We still do Santa here. Even though my dd is grown up, she would be really disappointed if Santa forgot to leave her stocking. And there must always be a Christmas cuddly toy ( santa, reindeer, snowman etc) sitting at the top!
My DH and I also do Santa stockings for each other, and they appear magically at the foot of the bed on Christmas morning!
    Merry Christmas to all xxx

Ah see you need to consider these things! :rotfl:

I don't want to put ours in different rooms, I want them both at the end of the bed so we can open them on the morning together. I think I'll have to decree that whoever goes second must not peek at their own stocking, though it'll likely be me who gets up second anyway and that would probably be best as I can just make sure I don't look. I can't promise I won't have a bit of a feel though!
  • Ive always done OH a stocking, my mum does mine because Id sulk if she didnt. :rotfl: And OH is useless at things like that. I fill OHs stocking before bed on Christmas eve when he's asleep and just hang my pre filled one up lol. We have a DS and its normal to him for Mummy and Daddy to have a stocking too. :) This year Im doing stockings for 14 people altogether as everyone deserves some christmas magic, no matter how old or young. :)

Santa always comes to our house.. even when my monsters are away..

I love watching the Santa tracker and we all have to go to bed when it shows him arriving in London!! We are 2 hours from there so no chance of bumping into him!

As for stockings - my mum and I used to get them ready for Santa to hand out - last year was first without mum :( and I managed to get them done.. Santa even bought me one :)

  • I do the stocking here, i fill them all mine, oh and 3 kids. Its always exciting i hang them from each of the beds and the kids jump into mum and dads bed in the morning and have great fun opening them. I fill my own :) too as the kids will think i am naughty if i never got one.

i fill the bottoms with little choc santas, coins and candy sticks :) only day of the year the kids get to eat choc before breakfast.

The advantage of being in charge of the stocking is i get such lovely things in mine :D soap and glory products being one if them.

I also make a stocking up for my mum or rather a posh gift bag with little wrapped goodies , when i said this year that i was not going to she was ahhh your the only one who makes me one :( so yes thats back on the to do list :)

Wik i sit the kids watching santas tracker i cant watch it always makes me cry :(

  • I always make stockings up for my two brothers and my mum. I just wish sometimes they'd reciprocate and do one for me.
