eBay and Microsoft?

Hello.
I am interested in buying an Xbox 360 off of eBay. The buyout price for the items together is £279.92, which is the Premium pack, Gears of War, Dead or Alive 4, and Dead Rising, plus delivery costs.
I have a couple of questions:
Do you think any shop would/can match that price. If I walked into - say - Comet and said "Do me this lot for this price", would they agree, or is it just too cheap in the 'real world'?
Secondly, I have heard that '360s can be temperamental, and sometimes it can be a bit like russian roulette with them. What I want to know is, does Microsoft offer after-sales support? Because although the eBay seller does do returns, s/he doesn't state how long for.
Thanks in advance

I doubt very much if Currys/comet would price match Ebay.
Why buy new? Pop down to your local Game/Gamestation etc and pick one up second hand and with games. I know my local offer a full refund if your not happy with it for any reason.

Problem is, we don't have a gamestation, and the nearest Game is quite a long way away.
Still, if it meant getting it cheaper it might be worth it... I'll have to investigate that, thanks!0 -
We have a large Blockbusters who also seem to do second-hand equipment - might be worth a look if you have one. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I phoned up GAME, and they said it was £289 when brought with Brian Lara cricket.
So... more expensive... comes with a game I don't want... and it used... Ooooh, tough decision there!

Only downside with ebay if the console breaks you don't have much comeback if you go to the seller and say it's broken as they can just say it was fine when they sold it.0

I would expect the same could be said of a second-hand console from GAME/Gameplay/Blockbuster/et al., which is why I asked if MS do any after-sales support, considering that the console is new from eBay.0

Did not realise it was a brand new one you were purchasing off ebay as I thought it was a second hand one, with it being new you will get a 12 month warrenty just make sure you get the original receipt off the seller in case Microsoft ask for it in the case of a warrenty claim
Any second hand machine from game normally comes with a 6 month warrenty which is covered by the shop and I would expect other retailers to have a similar warenty offered on second hand consoles
Some retailers are better than others when it comes to replacing a faulty 360 as some retailers will swop it over in the shop and give you a new console and they will just send the faulty one back to Microsoftbut some retailers will tell you to sort it out for yourself0 -
Yeah, I've heard of a couple of problems with retailers, especially Argos.
The eBay seller does say it comes with a warranty, so no worries there.0 -
If you decide to go for the one on Ebay, please make sure that your paypal payment comes from your credit card and not your bank account...that way you will be able to claim it back should it not arrive etc...be wary!0

Ah right, thanks.
If my dad does agree to let me borrow the money, we'll do it on his card.0
