We take our own meter readings and use Excel to set up a spreadsheet using the formula on the reverse of the bill so we pay exactly what we have used, we ignore their bills and reminders, totally throws their system out as it can't cope with independent thought! But we have after lots of correspondence come to an amicable agreement.
As far as water bills go, they have NO legal right to insist on payment over 10 months so we pay over 12, and again it throws their system as it is set up to only deal in 10 month pay periods.
