Home removal insurance - how to put a value on goods?

Hi all

The removal company we may use have added a cost for insurance, we have to put a value of goods to be moved, this is not broken down so would be an overall figure.

TBH I have no idea where to start with a figure, what would be a reasonable amount for a 1 bed flat? The max payout on this insurance is 50k so if I put 30k surely that would cover us for everything if worse case scenario the company loses everything?

anyone got experience of this?

Thanks

I believe it's 70k, so probably best to go for 50K then as it's the limit

Are you sure your house insurance doesn't already cover removals? It's worth looking at your policy. I believe when I checked my Co-op one it said removals are covered so long as a proper removal firm is used.

Not sure, it's by other halfs insurance, I am going to get him to call them tomorrow and check.

Just checked and we are covered up to £2,700. Our insurer said that the removal company are covered for complete loss so we should not have to take out extra for that.
