Dehumidifier ?

We have a 3 bed house, and have no experience of dehumidifiers previously.
Are we best to have 1 big one or 2 small ones ?
Are there any good deals / best place to buy from ?

i got one of these earlier in the year http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mitsubishi-Electric-MJ-E16VX-E1/dp/B000OY6KB0/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1354727179&sr=1-2
i've just used it for the first time today , you can set the level of humidity you want or it has an auto option , it is very quiet and once it reached the set level it cuts out and will then just keep on top of things , it is a bit more expensive , but if you want something decent then it's worth paying for ,
i live in a 3 bedroom house0 -
I use an Ebac 2850. It is my 2nd dehumidifier and had the first one, also Ebac, for probably 10 yrs or so. The one I use now is about 3yrs old and I bought direct from Ebac, google ebacdirect. I've just checked and they are currently giving free 5yr warranties on some models..expect to pay between 200and £300. Also, if u have a wickes diy near you, then check theirs...they used to sell Wickes branded ones but were actually made by ebac...it said so on the box and instructions. We bought our first when we were having rooms replastered and it dries it ever so gently and collects all the moisture. I also use it particularly at this time of year for drying washing indoors, and brill if you've shampooed carpets...just leave it running overnight. I wouldn't be without one.0

Like NickJ I also got a Mitsubishi Electric MJ-E16VX-E1 after a lot of research. It's more expensive than many others but we've had it over a year now, use it almost daily and it has performed admirably. The cheaper delonghi (etc) seem ok but the reviews I read suggested they doesn't last long, they can be a bit noisy, and the white plastic units look awful.
We used https://www.dry-it-out.com - very good range, best prices we could find anywhere, and they delivered next day for free.0 -
I'm too thinking about dehumidifies, but 1 large one for whole house or 2 small ones, ie one down stairs and 1 up?
I use a heated airer to drt clothes in kitchen dinner and terrible condensation and upstairs windows always wet.
House has cavitity wall insulation, think its this that causes all the condensation?0 -
One big one will work but will involve leaving all internal doors open.0

I have a rather old matsui one which I must have has over 15 years still going strong. I leave it in outside porch with inner door open all time I have it about a quarter of the way on dial all time unless I have all windows open to let fresh air in0

Drying clothes on a heated airer will causes massive condensation. Try a dehumidifier with a laundry mode to dry your washing - you will be AMAZED!0 -
Aldi have a mini dehumidifier for £34.99 on 27th Dec it's 1.5 litre capacity, thinking of getting 2, one to have in my kitchen/diner, the other on upstairs landing. Do you think it would be any good?0
