Radiator in Airing Cupboard

Has anyone out there an answer to this question:- We have a radiator in our airing cupboard. All our radiators throughout the bungalow have individual theromstats fitted with the exception of the one in the airing cupboard. I am aware of the condition that if individual thermostats are fitted, one radiator in the property should not have one fitted. To save gas I was going to turn the radiator off in the airing cupboard, but would this effect this condition? If I leave the airing cupboard radiator on would I be using more gas? Many thanks.

Can't think of any reason why anybody would put a radiator in an airing cupboard, especially if there is already a hot water cylinder in there (?)

I suppose it possible, if there isn't a cylinder in there, that the previous owner wanted heat to dry out washing etc put in there, or maybe there is a lot of pipes in the area and the previous owner(s) were paranoid about frosts and pipe bursts.
If I leave the airing cupboard radiator on would I be using more gas?
Yes of course. The radiator would be filling with hot water, thus placing extra requirement / demand on the boiler to initially heat and then constantly supply it

Has the water tank been removed and a compi fitted?
If so many people put a rad in the airing cupboard.
As you say, this rad could be used as the bypass if all the other rads shut down so should not be tuned off.
However, some combos have a built in bypass.
