Hi there

Just wondering if anyone knew of any (Preferably free) apps on Android that would allow me to open and edit a .xlsm file? (Excel with Macros)?

I run my basic day-to-day finances on a macro-enabled spreadsheet, which is stored on Google Drive (I'm aware it's not secure etc, thus the reason it’s purely figures and no account details other than "Halifax current account" or "NatWest Credit card" etc are stored, so I won't be required a lecture on security.

Anyway, back to the point, I'd like to be able to access this sheet on the go via my Samsung Galaxy SIII, which is running 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) but so far I've been unable to find a suitable app that will allow this, I would very much prefer to keep the macro functionality and a choice of removing this or not using my phone would result in me just not using my phone. The closest I've found so far is Mobisystems Office Suite 6, but the free version doesn’t support the file and I'm reluctant to pay the £15 or so for something that’s going to get very little use.

Any help or advice appreciated
Paul

    I don't use .xlsm files!
But just an idea ... Can't you use a "google docs" spreadsheet for this?
Since it's already in Google Drive you should be able to convert it to Google doc format and then use it on any andriod or desktop.

ThinkFree Office, which is on the Samsung Galaxy Ace mobile phone (cannot remember if it's on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but think it or something similar should be), can open .xlsm Excel files. You can also edit it and view its different worksheets.

  • S0litare - Regretably google docs handle macros in a less than pretty way, they rarely work at all and if they do, they tend to stuggle, which is a shame, otherwise id never stray from them!

WillaimO - I've tried Thnkfree and can't seem to get any joy with it, i donwload the file via the from google drive but it never appears in my folders :(

Thanks both anyway for your comments, but the hunt continues!

    Regards

Try e-mailing the doc to yourself and then opening it from the e-mail. If you put it on your memory card it will not work unless an application that can open it is installed.
