Hi Blind-as,
Please do NOT inform any of your creditors of your intended bankruptcy until you have actually filed - many will try everything to convince you that more 'debt' will solve your problems.
Also, once you have made the decision, stop paying anything to creditors, other than the basics like council tax and utilities.
Can I do this even when I haven't filed BR??!0 -
Why is it such a bad thing to tell them (write to them) to explain the situation, surely they don't want to waste phonecalls...???0

It's not a bad BAD thing but what's the point? If they see that the chances of them getting the money is slim, they'll step up the pressure. Why put that extra stress on yourself when there is no real need or obligation for you to tell them your intended plans?
You think telling them you are going BR will stop the phone calls? Honestly, it won't. If anything, it'll increase them and chances are they won't believe you anyway until it actually happens.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -
yJust curious but if you tell them in advance couldn't they try sending in bailiffs to take your stuff before you get to court?
B-a-a-b is correct that it's a bit of a drawn out proceedure and they will try anything and everything before taking that course of action as again, it costs them money. Yes, they add it to your debt BUT if you aren't able to pay what you owed already, how do they think taking your goods which might, if they are lucky, cover the extra that they plonked on for the balliff action, will resolve the situation?
Also, if you are broke and can't pay them, what's the chances you'll have anything of value after it's been removed, transported, sold and all that?
But you are right, another reason not to tell them you are going BR or at least not until you are only a month or 2 away from doing it for definite.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -
