Trimming long haired cats

  • Thank you. The royal canin sensitivity food is the only thing that helps to be honest. It's just eye wateringly expensive as well!

Goodness, decent cat food is expensive, isn't it? I assume that you have looked online - I both found a great selection (even some that included quail eggs/lobster or caviar!!!), but also some more reasonable prices if you buy in bulk.
I get most of my stuff from Zooplus which starts off with a discount, and then you can 'buy' a further discount for a year). Postage is free over £19, which at these sorts of prices isn't exactly mega bulk :-)
Anyway - I wasn't sure if it was the dry or the wet food you used. If it's the wet, then you could try either Kattovit sensitive or Integra sensitive, both of which seem to work for my little Puke-a-rella (and are much cheaper than the RC stuff) :-)

Pets at Home currently have an online offer for the 10kg bags of Royal Canin:

    (hope that link works)

We have a fluffball in our family and I've found the only way to trim his bum is when he's sleeping. He loves being brushed and will happily carry on sleeping while he's being brushed. So I just distract him by brushing him and trim away. No stress to him he just wakes up with a cold bum! :)

Feed all of mine Royal Canin and vary flavours on sensitive. Occasionally feed cooked fish but they scoff it like starving savages and then often throw it up again? Occasional disgusting bottoms so I deal with these in the bath with Pantene shampoo and separate conditioner. Worst issue is when they then sit in something - this week's offering was coated in sand, pine needles and twigs - luckily I got to her before she got onto our bed!!

Unfortunately there is no one food that works for all of them - cheapest RC I have found is Amazon.
  • Thanks everyone!

Its the royal canin vetinary diet, so they dont stock it on zooplus or usually have any offers on petsathome. I do buy it online from Medic Animal which is certainly cheaper than the vets.

At the moment we are trying to get them onto Bozita sensitive, bought from zooplus. They get some wet food twice a day with a bowl of dry down to nibble on during the day while we are at work.

They love white fish, but it doesnt agree with them. I'll spare you the details but Im sure you can imagine!

I will try snipping them while they sleep thats a good idea.
