hi, looking for some advice before i proceed, had a call from a company called financial ppi claims based in coventry and they said that i had over 4 grand to claim from an old loan, but before i recieved this i would have to transfer £550 via western union, this sent alarm bells off, is this the way things are usually done i thought they would just deduct the money then i would receive whats left.

Someone calling up out of the blue and offering you £4000
Sounds like the follwoing scam which is also being done door to door;

my wife works in a local corner shop and had a couple come in for vouchers to pay the same scam
thanks to this site she was able to warn them that it was a scam and saved them over £300
they contacted the people trying to scam them and they hung up on them!

You will probably find this is in fact a member of the Nigerian Royal Family or Diplomatic Service who is trying to get money out of their country.0

Sounds like advance fee fraud. You never send money up front. Thats your first alarm bell. The second is the use of Western Union. That is well known for being used by scams.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
