Why do Energy Company's not show tarrif's?

I am with NPower and I went onto there website yesterday and I could not find any tarrif prices, I had to phone them up for them to give me the tarrif price, my contract on gofix 8 comes to an end in february next year, and they sent me a letter to state I would be going over to GoSave S and they supplied me with the tarrifs, but I could not find any other tarrifs on there site so I could work out what would be cheaper for me, I had to phone up NPower for them to put me onto a cheaper plan for my needs which is April14, so why do energy suppliers not give the information online, have they given me now the cheaper deal or do I just have to go by there say so, the Energy suppliers do not make things easy.

    They do.
    http://www.npower.com/

'electricity+gas' (at the top) -> prices in your area (on the left) -> get prices - enter postcode.

    Simple!
Well, if it wasn't for the fact that there are about 14 different ways that leads to the 'compare/switch' side of the site.
And that I don't think they list legacy products.
    Npower are not alone.
Scottishpower also fails totally to display any tariff info for my product.
  • That does not work for me it does not show all there tarrifs, a complete con so you only have there word for it via a telephone call, at least the call is a 0800 number.

At least petrol stations put up there prices and you can shop around before you buy.

Even if you changed supplier you are advised to go with Uswitch or go compare etc because they say they can find you the cheapest supplier at the time, and I just do not believe it, the wool is pulled over our eyes all the time.

Just not a happy person when it comes to Gas and Electricity as my bill is around £1400 a year, the prices keep going up and I work in the private sector where I have not had a wage rise in 5 years so things are getting tight and I need to tighten the purse strings.
