Best card for abroad?

I'm going to be working in mainland Europe for 6 months come February, and I'm somewhat worried about charges for using my card in another country. I'm currently with Nationwide, who used to have zero charges for using their FlexAccounts when used abroad, but that's changed since I last had to leave the country.
Anybody have any tips? Much appreciated!

In the same situation, In my view I would say the Post Office Mastercard is better followed by Saga.
My understanding both DON'T charge commission fees oversea's.0 -
Nationwide Select card is fee free for purchases. Halifax Clarity is good for cash as no cash advance fee and no exchange rate fee, you do pay interest but if you pay it off soon after the withdrawal the interest is trivial. Or MetroBank or N&P current acconts for fee free debit cards. Metrobank are only in London, and N&P require you to make a number of transactions per month (5 I think) for no fee.0
