In-between Sized Tablets

Looking at getting myself a tablet. Having known absolutely nothing about them a week ago, i have done a fair bit of research on the internet over the last week and been to some shops to get an idea of what size i would want. Whilst the vast majority of tablets are either about 7" or 10" screens, i have to say i like the in-between sizes of 8-9", though this does massively reduce the choice.

Im assuming the best one is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, which Debenhams are doing for £219. - http://www.debenhamsplus.com/DE_Samsung_Tablet_10073240/version.asp?refsource=DXfroogle But it does seem quite a lot, and this being MoneySavingExpert, maybe i should be looking to pay less.

The Motorola Xoom 2 (8.2") looks quite good, and Expansys are selling it for £170 (was £160 yesterday) - http://www.expansys.com/motorola-xoom-2-media-edition-16gb-wi-fi-225503/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=base&ito=1701 Downsides i can see are non-expandable memory and not the latest Android version, though neither was the Samsung.

Then, going into real budget territory, there is the A1CS 8" Rapid5 (£119) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009INBR7K/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d11_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0MPVKN1THP3CAM1M8F7B&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=317828027&pf_rd_i=468294 and the Ployer Momo8 IPS (£107) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ployer-Momo8-IPS-Tablet-Pre-Installed/dp/B0096DKGJW/ref=pd_cp_ce_1. Never heard of either, but both get generally very good reviews on Amazon, although there is talk of poor wi-fi range, particularly with the Ployer one.

Just wondering if anyone has any views on what i should go for. Are the more expensive ones worth the money? The two cheapest ones seem to be the highest specced and have the latest version of Android. Should i be worried about which version of Android i have? I will mainly just use the tablet for internet browsing at home, bit of music, bit of youtube, and then take it with me on train journeys and holidays. If the wi-fi range is poor and i cant pick it up in a hotel or such like, that would definitely annoy me. All views gratefully received (but please dont suggest 7" or 10" alternatives - i have completely discounted them!). :)

Regarding chinese tablet, I haven't heard of A1CS 8". But Polyer Momo 8 is good when you compare to other chinese tablet. However, make sure you go for UK seller if possible.

also look for the £50 Samsung cashback deals on tablets. Think they are still on at currys/pc world, but it's probably across the board.

go and play with them if you can. you'll get a better feel of how they will work for you
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

Currys/PC World dont seem to sell the 8.9" Samsungs.

Think i might go for the Motorola, unless anyone knows any particular disadvantages of that tablet i should be aware of?

On another point, do people think prices will come down once we get past Xmas?
