Hag / Sten Party Accommodation Lodge - Help Needed

Hi,
I am in desperate need of some MSE help. Me and the OH are having a joint Hen / Stag party as we both have the same friends etc.
There is 14 of us in the group, age range 19-34, we are looking to hire a lodge/caravan/house for the weekend of Feb or early March 2013, just for drinking, games, cooking, TV, Movies etc.
We had left this in our families hands and was assured it was all complete, and we have just had a message to say their initial plan to rent two prestige caravans at Haven, has been cancelled as the booking is for a mixed group, and it's a family resort.
They say they have explored every hotel/lodge in Northern UK, and alot of places don't accept Hen or Joint-Group parties
Me and OH are now fretting majorly about not having our weekend Hag party
We are looking for a Weekend Break, preferably Northern region, somewhere like Peak District, York, Newcastle, Lake District etc. (Group will be travelling from Middlesbrough) so ideally, max of 2hrs Drive.
We were trying to budget around £35 p/person so around (£400 to rent somewhere for the weekend to sleep 14) or 2x 7 (£200 p/lodge p/caravan).
Please MSE save our Hag Weekend :A

it's not far off the a1 in nottingham and was nice
It was a mixed group but it was a group of families so not sure if that made any difference.
We hired out 3 cabins between us so maybe no good for you as you couldn't all be in the same place but could be worth a look x[/STRIKE]CC1 £7,944.10

Have you considered a camping barn? They are usually bigger and cheaper than a cottage
For example (yes I know these are probably a bit in the back of beyond for you)...

The main downside of a camping barn is that you may have to be quiet after a certain time if they have neighbours.
I've got to ask.... who was daft enough to admit it was for a Hen night? Nooooo, it's not a hen night, it's the Book Club Annual trip, where we'll be reading books and discussing plotlines.0 -
Camping barns are excellent, you can get them through the YHA. You have to take your own bedding etc but its communal cooking - cheap and cheerful. You could also look at something like this:

Kittykarate is correct, you are not a hen party or a stag do or both, you're a reunion of a university walking group!0 -
Or. How about the barn at Brinham Rocks. It's fab there and loads to do (if you like walking/rocks) the best thing is that you will prob be the only ones there so can make as much noise as you want.
The downside is that I don't think that there are any pubs etc close by so you will have to bring your own booze/foods etc.
From memory, it's really really cheap too.0 -
Try springhill caravan park in north Sunderland ( seahouses) they have a barn that sleeps loads! Perfect for that!0

All this YHA talk reminded me i saw an article about the whitby YHA which looks amazing:

Seahouses is a good hour and a half drive from Sunderland - do you mean Northumberland? It is a nice place, great fish and chips!

HBS, North Sunderland is now effectively part of Seahouses (the two villages grew into each other)0 -

I was going to suggest Springhill too... If you booked the entire bunkhouse for eg. it would be like having a whole hostel to yourselves... And the views are breathtaking!0 -
We managed to stay in Ramshorn Estate luxury lodges. Based not far from alton towers. I found ringing and speaking to them allowed our same sex booking. This lodge appears to sleep up to 14 and has the first weekend in March available - but it doesn't say the prices :-( I suspect it may be out of budget though as they are very posh accomm!

Our hen party stayed in "wootton" lodge it was beautiful!
I did admit we were a hen party, looking for somewhere big enough for us to gather together and that we were very sensible.
What may be different is that we were just a hen party of 6 aged between 25 and 60.
We were allowed to make a booking for 3 nights (that was the min they allowed) - though we only needed to stay for 2 due to work commitments, and we still feel we got our money worth. We paid about £80 each I think? once it was split between us
I usually think honesty is the best policy normally but there are some lies you can try (though I reckon they'll have heard it all before), works/team weekend away / group of family friends or couples holiday. I think though as these lodges are designed for large get togethers you shouldn't have a problem, especially as you are a mixed sex group.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea
