challenging a mortgage survey down valuation

  • Words of warning for others in this situation.

    There might be situations where due to lack of sales in the vicinity in a reasonable timeframe, there just isnt the evidence of comparable sales to justify the true value of a house.

    In this scenario the surveyor will try to force square pegs into round holes in terms of 'comparable's' and if they do you may well, like us, lose your dream home as well as your survey and legal fees.

    Seems like the approach needs to change to me as current one has some very unfair outcomes, but our experience tells us this is how it is.

    Well we've only moved house once before which we did without any changes of heart so I can't say it's something she's done before. For me after all the stress of it now it's become more a you either laugh or cry situation and I'm choosing to see the lighter side :T

    In my opinion still no :D Not that it matters to us now :A I think the vendors are realising how valuations work and taking everything into account deciding to take the hit.
