Cavity wall insulation quote. Super silver bead

House is around 2800 sq feet in size and we are currently on a serious energy reduction crusade

Having a biomass wood pellet boiler installed in thd new year to replace oil. Have just brought loft insulation up to 300mm and got a quote for cavity wall insulation this evening

£1800

We have existing 20-25mm polystyrene boards I the wall
His guy admits that he is much more expensive than other firms it he uses only the best quality beading called 'super silver'

Anyone have any experience of this ?

if you already have polybead in the wall then i wouldnt install anything else in there. Unless you know the exact material you may cause bridging.

And for £1800 you may as well go for internal wall insulation

also, is the 2800 sq ft is about 260m2. is that the measurement given by the surveyor? The company i used to work for would have charged around £630 for that work with any scaffolding etc on top. Although super silver is an enhanced product with a premium.

Ive never used it myself so couldnt comment on how much difference you would feel - only that you couldnt put wool into the walls so before you get any other quotes, you might want to explain that you already have polystyrene in the walls so require a polybead top up

Yeah. Guy quoting there had a look and same the poly boards against internal wall. Says they can compact it and that the super silver is indeed a premium. Think £1800 too steep though.

Gonna get more quotes. Actually wen out in the rain there to measure coverage and calculate to getting a price per sq metre rather than have a whole guessing game

Not sure where you are but see if Dyson insulation are working around where you are. No idea on what they charge but i do know that they will insulate with polybead against Poly board. Or at least they certainly used to.
