Was wondering if someone can help me, my desktop cannot access any internet sites although having checked with my isp supplier and them confrming I have a good connection (obviously as I am now accessing via my laptop) virgin telll me that there is something on my system blocking my access, the only two changes made to the system that could have caused any problem to my knowledge are: the installation of an additional 2gig of ram or the installation of firefox, any suggestions as to how I can identify the problem and resolve it would be a blessing. As I hate laptops

Ok, I am presuming that this is an XP PC setup with multiple user accounts.
If you login as yourself, go to Start > Run and type 'msconfig' (without quotes), then click on the Startup tab, you will get a list of all startup programs that are currently running.
If you then login as your son and repeat, you will be able to see if there are any differences. If you want to disable any startup programs in your son's setup, simply untick them on the msconfig list.0 -
Tried this and far too many differences, I think I am going to have to kill the id and rebuild the profile what are the implications of this please?Ok, I am presuming that this is an XP PC setup with multiple user accounts.

If you want to delete his account (and presumably create a new one, after severe lectures about responsible use of a shared PC
), see the link below

Remember to save his documents (step 5, I think)0 -
