I still appear to be on track re achieving savings and maintaining comfortable standards.

Yesterday (outside) Temp. Hovering close Zero
    Night (outside) Temp. Zero

    Programmer set Continuous (24 Hour)

    Day stat. setting 20C
Night set back 17C 9pm - 8am. (Time can vary)
  • Most definitely it is not cheaper to have the heating on all day, it is cheaper to insulate where possible and apply quality heating and temperature controls to keep the building at the desired temperature set point.

I would hope ukenergystore, those people wishing to save on their energy bill would already have done that or at least are in the process of doing it.

    Doh!

They've gone and highlighted this question in The Guardian money section:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/blog/2012/dec/07/save-money-heating-on-off

    These two sum it up:
    DickyBow:
'Newton's Law of Cooling states that the rate of change of the temperature of an object is proportional to the difference between its own temperature and the ambient temperature'. In other words, maintaining a comfortable temperature 24/7 involves greater heat loss than just heating your house when you are a] home and b] moving around rather than in bed.
    :T
    The response:
    HogfartsAcademy:

Yeah, but he didn't have central heating so what the hell does he know about it?
