You don't get 'duty free' in the US.
There's a duty free shop inbound in T5 just before you get landside. You could make purchases there, but you'd have to check them in for your domestic sector.Legal team on standby0 -

Technically no (I believe) however the "duty free shops" do offer the majority of their goods at duty free prices for domestic/ within the EU flights but legally you are still paying the taxes its just the retailer is taking the majority of the hit.
When we going to buy a few expensive pieces of jewellery I booked a reward flight to Paris for thirty quid and bought it all with 20% off plus additional WorldPoints points which when transferred to Avios more than covered the points spent on the flight :j0
