Where to put £70k for 6 months!

We've just inherited a reasonable sum of money, we've paid off our interest bearing debts.

Next year we are planning some building work that will cost between £50k - £60k.

We won't need the money for 6 months or so, but I simply don't know what the best option would be to keep it.

Any ideas would be very helpful! thank you!

Have you browsed this forum for "where to put £80K", "I have £120K from a house sale to use as a deposit for the next house purchase", "where to park £xxK for x months" and so on?

The answers will always be essentially the same - - the best you can hope for is to protect your money from inflation. But not even that looks possible with the current short term savings rates. Might as well bung the whole lot into Premium Bonds (2 x 30K) now and hope for a windfall. Rest into one of the equally mediocre top instant savings accounts that you can find at the top of the page.
