"Blocked" vanquis card?

Hi guys.

Just wanted to know if a "blocked" vanquis account is the same as a "closed" account?

I took advantage of a 0% balance transfer to Barclaycard then promptly closed my Vanquis account so as not to be tempted to spend on it again.
Now I tried to log on to my Vanquis account to check that the account is now closed and the website says "this account has been blocked".
This alarmed me somewhat as the word BLOCKED, to me, is a BAD thing.

Can anybody clarify my position?

According to my credit file, there is now a zero balance on the account with all green ticks but it just this "blocked" thing thats caught my attention.

Is this normal practice?

Thanks in advance.

Vanquis Bank would be a good starting point. Why not call them and ask?

If the account is closed, then it will be marked as "settled" (with a date), but this "settled" marker may take a couple of months to filter through to the CRAs.

I'd expect to retain access to 12 months' statements online following closure, but then I've never dealt with Vanquis (thankfully!).

Tried ringing their cancellations team with no answer!

I always thought a blocked card meant fraudulent activity had been detected?
  • Blocked usually means stopped to transactions not closed account

They may block the account for a period, to ensure nothing further comes through.

I would expect it to be closed after the statement date. The month after the balance was NIL.
