The same thing happens everywhere online, as soon as you throw your details up, I bought Flowers from Eden Flowers about 8 years ago, I still get mail from them now...
It's junk mail, nothing more. Why you seem compelled to even open it let alone get pushed to the brink of meltdown is beyond me. My junk mail goes inthe same bin as the Pizza leaflets.0 -

My view is that some people worry far too much about nothing.
I still get emails from an apartment we stayed at in Majorca for 2 nights back in 2003.
There are some really serious things happening in the world right now, much more deserving of a crusade than stuff that comes through your letterbox/inbox/phone which you can bin/delete.0 -

I beg your pardon? Who are you to tell me what is worthy of a post on a forum on a website regarding saving money?
If I wish to make a public forum complaint regarding unsolicited letters from a subprime loan company on the back of my own personnel debt problems that is absolutely my right.
I don't consider this a 'crusade'. And I am perfectly intelligent enough to know of the problems of the world.
This is free speech and if I wish to complain regarding aggressive marketing from Amigo Loans, this is absolutely the place to do it and I absolutely will!0 -

The pack opens with something that looks like a bank statement with £4,250 Paid In on it, saying ‘Authorised for Payout’ and “BACS Transfer Credit”. Also, on the front page: “I’ve set up an account for and put £4,250 into it. Before I can give you access to this money, you need to find someone to be your guarantor. This person can be anyone you know, as long as they own a property in the UK and have a good credit history.” The loan is charged at 49.9% APR and underwritten by a guarantor that is a homeowner...hang about!!? ]
If this is true, then it is appalling behaviour. Unfortunately, this is how money lenders act and how they make a huge profit.
Talk about dangling a carrot. Someone in desperate circumstances would jump at a chance to take up this loan, and after being enticed in they are left with a huge debt.0 -
Am I being completely naive here? I actually thought that for my circumstances it may be worthwhile.
My relationship has just broken down and we are selling our house - £120K outstanding mortgage, 50% shares for each of us, £160K asking price interest and initial offer at £150K. Due to my partner contributing very little financially I have a maxed out Barclaycard, can't get a loan anywhere and have just missed a mortgage payment (I pay all the bills etc....).
So I thought - borrow £4.5K over 5 years through Amigo and pay back earlier than that once house sale through. By my rough calculations that would - even if paying back in 12 months - be around 17% interest.
I know that my biggest risk is the sale of the house not going through, but surely that is the only risk?0
