wireless speakers/internet radio

Options
Hi,

I'm hoping for some suggestions.

I want to listen to digital radio in my kitchen and listen to mp3 files from my laptop around the house. I don't have a hifi or speakers of any sort. I've got sky digital so could connect to sky box or my wireless internet connection for radio.

Can anyone suggest something like wireless speakers which can connect to my laptop but also can play radio via the wireless router/sky box? Also I would like to be able to change radio stations from the speakers, if poss.

Hope that makes sense. Thanks for any advice/suggestions.

Not sure about tuning radio channel speakers tho, its kinda like wanting a tv that you can change channels with from the plug.

It looks like the one from #2 only does WEP encryption, maybe it can't deal with WPA. Best check that out if you do use WPA security (you really should :D)
  • The Acoustic Energy wi-fi radio has had some rave reviews, this is an example:

You can order using discount code NAT100 for 30% off on their website http://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/E-Shop/index.asp?EnhanceA=PRODUCT%20SEARCH%20RESULTS

    :-)
  • If you have Sky, you could try a Sky Gnome. They've discontinued them but they're still available on ebay. They don't sound too bad according to some reviews I've read.
Will only allow you to listen to what's on sky though.

Surely for listening from your laptop, around the house, what you need is a kinda iTrip style device that runs off the mains, connects to a normal 3.5mm headphone socket, and transmits on FM?
A quick google search finds me only in-car ones, but home ones must be available....
  • You do have options. But not only from your kitchen, but you can hear music even in your living room, bedroom, dining room and bathrooms. A wireless speaker systems base station allows you to connect multiple number of speakers (say 4) anywhere around your home. Even you can take them outdoors. But make sure you have a plug point wherever you take these wireless speakers. Just plug it, turn up the volume, then start streaming music from your laptop to all these speakers.
  • Well, a pair of speakers that runs through and connects almost all the rooms of your house should definitely be your pick. Yes, it's Wireless Speakers. Moreover, you can also use it with your Stereo System, Mp3 players, CD Player, a computer and a television.
