Faulty Ikea mattress - 25 year guarantee but no receipt

Hello,

Hoping you can help...

Ikea have a 25 year guarantee on their mattresses against faults - after 2.5 years our mattress has developed a fault where the spring has popped through the lining.

I've looked for the receipt but can't find it, would they still honour their guarantee as a fault has developed?

Thanks,
annimooboo

I don't know, but if presenting a receipt is a condition of providing the guarantee service then they are entitled to refuse.

You will have to ask them.

Do you have any proof of purchase, a bank or credit car statement?
  • Thanks for the responses - I must have been on my debit card so I'm going to try and find proof of purchase using my bank statement, fingers crossed!

  • Have you called them yet?

Should be easy enough to establish what they require.

  • I had the same problem with an ikea bed, it sagged, but ikea were reluctant to provide a replacement. I had a bank statement showing the amount and when I purchased the item, though this only showed that I had been to ikea and spent a lot of money. I did not have the exact receipt initially, I argued that it was meant to have a 25 year gaurantee and that the bed was in a good condition dispite the sag and that it was obviously from ikea and not 25 years old; they still didnt want to know.
Luckily found the receipt stashed away in a box and was able to get a replacement after taking photos, having someone assess the bed etc. The second bed did the same (from ikea).
So had enough of ikea and bought another mattress from homebase in the sale, the bed did the same after about 6 months! I have the worst luck with mattresses ever. Im 9 stone, not exactly a heavy weight and my back has had so many problems due to matresses! Im some kind of expert now for sure!
Managed to get my mattress replaced by calling the manufacterers because homebase were very unhelpful. The manufacturers said that slats do not support the mattress if they are more than 2cm appart and that is why im having problems. Funny that Ive had two different bed frames in that time and my mattresses have still been faulty! And everyone else never seems to have a problem with their mattress?!
Anyway Im on mattress number 4 now, and for 3 weeks it has been really nice to sleep on. Despite it smelling really fusty which the manufacturers have disputed because apparently my mattress was made to order! Smells more like its been in a warehouse for a few years! :(
  • Hi there,

I had a similar problem back in 2007 and IKEA (wembley) were really good and replaced.

If it was a 'Sultan' matress and you have some sort of proof of purchase (receipt/bank/credit card statement) IKEA should refund/replace.
