Homeplug help

I've got a problem with the wireless networking on my PC dropping to 1mb transfer rate quite often, which slows internet browsing to a crawl.
I'm thinking of dropping the wireless dongle, and using a Homeplug.
The issue (possibly) is that I already have a pair of Homeplugs connecting my TV to the router to get iPlayer.
Can i run a second pair of homeplugs, or will they interfere with each other, or can I just use a single, third, homeplug to extend the existing pair?
Tried googling, but can't find the answer ...

You should be able to get a third one the same and extend - do you know what make/model your existing ones are?0

Not off the top of my head. I'm at work and they are at home, but I should be able to check.
They are quite old (probably 4 years or so) so I doubt I will be able to get another identical one. If different brands are not cross-compatible, it may be easier to buy a set of three new ones.0 -
Shouldn't need to be the same make, but does need to be the same spec (ie 80 mbs or 200 mbs)0

If they are the 85 mbs ones, then you can only add another 85mbs. If they are the 200 or higher then any 200 or higher will be fineMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

You can add one of a different speed, but the whole network will then only work at the speed of the slowest. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You can run I think up to 8 without any problems and it may be higher. I have 6 on the go at the moment and they are ok.
As said they work at the theoretical highest speed of the slowest plug in the system. So if you added a 200 to your 85 then the max you would ever see would be 85.
85 is pretty slow and if your not running passthrus then TP Link have had several deals recently where they have gone as low as £20 a pair for 200 speed.
Also worth noticing I dont think 85 work with 500 which is what the new ones are running with (although the 200 units will work with 500).
Also my 500 speed units achieve actual speed of anywhere from 40 - 480).
In all honesty your cheapest solution would be to pick up a second hand pair of 85's off ebay (as people are all upgrading) and can be had for a tenner. Either that or a long lan cable and some wall clips.0
