Ipad/Ipad 2

Hi all :)

Lookingm for an Ipad/ipad 2 for my dad for xmas, he's a complete technophobe so looking at an ipad for basic things like emails and web browsing rather than a PC

we are looking for a very basic model as he wouldnt use most of the features anyway, so im more of a PC person myself so not clued up myself on Ipads etc so can any suggest any good deals on I[pads at the minute?

Thanks

  • Take a look on the apple website for reconditioned models e.g.
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/FC705/refurbished-ipad-with-wi-fi-16gb-black-3rd-generation

Cheapest way would be to buy a second-hand one though. Or.. take the plunge and find a cheaper Android tablet

I had considered the apple store, but what exactly are their reconditioned units? some told me they they are most likely newish ones. I was tempted to get him android, but never used one myself, im not fussy either way personally, but he is a complete idiot when it comes to technolgy ;) so will my job to show him to to use it initially

    Thanks for the reply

according to their website, the recon ones have new screens and shells, so from an aethestic point of view, they'll look new (they'll also have a new box).

I run android, windows 7 and IOS, and IOS is better from a just does what it says perspective. I'm sure android is more configurable, and it's certainly much cheaper and better value, but the IPAD would be my choice if money wasn't an option

Thanks for that, appreciate it :)
  • I've got an android phone, and ipad tablet... for a technophobe i'd always go for the apple gear, as it's designed to be intrinsically simpler

I've recently bought an ipad mini.

I've never used a tablet before, and don't have a smart phone. However, I walked into the Apple Store, prodded a couple of buttons, and within a few moments had got myself to a web site.

I tried Android tablets in other shops but couldn't get anywhere with them.

So I got the Ipad mini 16gb, for sheer use of use.
