DVD drive not showing

I wonder if anyone can help at all.
Just installed a new SSD having had an ordinary SATA drive just to speed things up. Both working fine (SSD is master).
My mobo is a GA-H67MA-D2H that runs SATA 3 and in my previous set up I had the SATA as master and a DVD drive as slave on the 2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors. There are three other SATA connectors, but running at at 3Gb/s.
I currently want to have SSD on SATA3_0, the original SATA HD on SATA3_1 and the DVD drive on SATA3_3, but for whatever reason the DVD does not show up on Windows (7 64bit) and boot up takes ages as if it is thinking about something. If however, I boot in Safe mode, the DVD drive does appear. it also shows up on the BIOS attached devices page.
Any thoughts as to why I can't see it on Windows? Can't find any help/FAQs on Gigabyte website. Is it perhaps some RAID setting I have automatically on (I do not wish to have a RAID setup).
Any help would be appreciated.
