Tuesday 4th December - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
:money:

Morning guys  hope you're all healthy, happy and I know you're all wise! Hurrah that Monday is over and if I try to work hard, be happy and excited the day will wizz by!

My things for today:
* check banking
* all meals from stores - leftovers again I think
* going to sewing group again tonight to catch up as have missed a few class
* will stay at work after I finish and job hunt/read a book before sewing class
* go into town at lunch to pay some cash into the bank
* NSD
* load of washing & hang on driers
* apply for job, wasn't going to but think I can do it easily and U don't have to take the job just because I applied
* contact friends about getting together tomorrow, seems like a headache, might rearrange!

Ok think that's my lot. Have a great day everyone x

    Thanks DNMs.

    Last night/today's DFW-style DIY:

    # Laid left-over vinyl in front hallway from bathroom. Shop wouldn't £0.

    # Took door handles off kitchen doors, removed old grime with nail polish remover, refitted. £0.

    # Removed bathroom door catch (never used) and put on loft hatch to stop it keep falling down.
    £0

    # Scrub filthy doormat in bath to see if I can avoid buying new one. £0

#Find out where Housing Association kitchen fitters got floor tiles. They left a gap!

#Cancel 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime quick delivery.
    (Link)

    # Bought a lampshade component for 99p on eBay rather than £4 in Homebase. And got Nectar points.

#OH began food shopping monthly to take advantage of bulk buy deals and new chest freezer.

#Took eight sacks of decorating rubbish to the coup/tip instead of paying council £35 to take it.

    OFFERS:

 Cut price postage stamps. I have no personal experience of this company. (Link)

Used overnight cheap electric to do some washing. Must remember to sort the whites for this time slot. The hotter the wash/water the more electric our WM uses (heats its own water).

Need to do a horrible banking thing today. Bit that bullet.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    Good morning everyone!!

Thanks for starting us off DNMS!

Today I will have a NSD!
All dinner, breakfast and lunch from stores!
    Check banking
    Check onepoll
    Do Swagbucks
    Check competition boards
Need to make a start on making christmas decorations :o
Need to do a washing tonight, the puppy has started to sleep in the washing pile :rotfl:
Need to see if I can 'borrow' a bag of salt from work to do our driveway at home, it's like an ice rink just now :(

We are heading to Ikea this weekend to get a christmas tree, £25 tree and they give you a £20 voucher to spend in store, that will do nicely! The first 20 Ikea family card holders through the door will get a free tree, so me and DH are hoping to get a free one :j That's if we get up early enough :rotfl:

    Happy Tuesday everyone!
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

  • Good afternoon everyone!

Thanks to DNMS for starting us off

Also thanks to zepsgal for the zip foot tip from yesterday for me. I never got round to looking at the machine (hectic day in work) but hopefully will tonight.

Didn't quite make the dinner from stores last night because OH insisted on fresh pasta from tesco because it cooks in about 5 mins. Little miffed because he was at home from 5 and could have made dinner already by the time he picked me up at 7

Oh well, I'll drum it into him one day... (with a big stick!)

    Today's list:

B/L/D from stores (def cos I am cooking night)

Charge phone in work. Use work's wifi because my data for the month has nearly run out.

Check online banking - should all be normal.

Check for cc statements (should come out about now - need to be careful of barclaycard that I cleared for any tail-ends of interest)

Start making cushion cover inners; decipher sewing machine manual re: zip foot

Hopefully no heating on as milder

Asked finance lady about early pay roll as Christmas, no one had told her and she was going to run it through for 24th Dec. Had a word with nice sympathetic boss to try and change this. (have always been paid early previous years). If not, will borrow money from Dad and pay bills early to avoid any probs!

Have a look at red dress for Christmas party on Friday. Dress is size 14-16 and I am size 8-12 (depending on how far south you get :rotfl:). Need to pin smaller and sew but might be a bit beyond me

Hope you all have a lovely day :)

    Hi everyone,

I didn't post yesterday as I was providing moral support to a friend at her Dad's funeral :( & then I was too tired in the evening to do so, will catch up the thread in a mo.

Thanks for starting us off DNMS, how's the job hunting going?
Zepsgal - Pics of your pup please, I am a sucker for all things cute & fluffy!
Carrie - I can sympathise, terrible when your OH isn't fully on board! Especially over something so silly as that as dried pasta doesn't take much longer, & like you said he could have got it ready!

    Today I have/will:-
    • Food from stores
    • Made use of free water & milk at work
    • Helped myself to leftover sandwiches from a meeting = free lunch for me! What I brought in will keep until tomorrow
    • Staying in for my lunchbreak to avoid spending
    • Dinner from meal plan - HM cottage pie
    • Charged phone at work
    • Heating off as long as possible, lots of layers!
    • Daily clicks etc on Sw@gbucks
    • Log calories using free app
    • Check online banking, still quite pleased we've managed to put £400 towards CC B as I thought it would be half of that!
    • Surveys
    • Declutter & flylady
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Sort out items to return to New L00k - NEED to do this tonight!
    • Pop to Homebase straight after work for some last minute xmas bits, stick to list!!
    • Catch up with yesterday's thread
    • DH doing some overtime this evening
Have a great, MSE day everyone x
