Mmmm ... dilemma. As i've posted a couple of times, i'm in the process of remortgaging to a better rate and shorter repayment period. Just got a note from the bank to say it's all signed and sealed, the remortgage is done, and my first payment is ... in July

Now I was expecting to make the standard repayment in June so I budgeted for that and a £600 OP this month too. Even though I don't have to pay anything I'll pay all that regardless, so it'll basically be one giant OP - but it kind of feels like cheating to count anything other than the £600 'extra' to the challenge. Guess it is all an OP as I don't have to pay it. Mmm.

The new bank are going to think i'm really odd when I ring up to ask how to make a payment they don't want :D

Evening all, well we are still going and managed an OP this month, not sure how long we can keep this up but we're not going to go quietly!

We have our OPs set up to reduce monthly payment rather than term as I like the security of lower minimum bills. When we started our mortgage in 2005 it was £120000 and monthly payments were over £850 (interest about 5.5%) Now having reduced the term when we changed providers and despite having borrowed back at least £12000 for home renovations, a car and a wedding our monthly payments are under £450 and as of today our mortgage is at the halfway point :) My view is we OP as much as we can but having smaller bills means I can go on maternity leave for the second time in 3 years without panicing. We get letters from Nationwide advising of the new payment at least once a month ;)
Voucherman could you add our first June OP of £1400.22 thanks

    Wow!! What a difference

I also plan to hopefully be less pressured to work what I do if we were to have child #2. It would make such a big difference to have lower bills, the freedom would be unimaginable. Congrats on reaching the half way mark, I cant wait to get under the 100k point. Just another £34,500 to go! lol.
All the best with the other half of your mortgage, im sure you'll be there in no time ;)

    Hi all
No.65 with an £800 op for June. Having just flicked through the last few pages I saw the wonderful voucherman had posted a status list so I was chuffed to see that with this payment we have hit our target :) I was short on it last year. We are also saving up for a new roof so I'm super pleased we have op'ed £2k this year. Thanks to voucher man & this thread :)
