HP simplesave hard drive

I got one of these a couple of years ago and used it no problems,found it in a drawer the other day so decided to use it .It now isnt recognised by my pc when its plugged in its not even on the list of things attached in my computer.
I have downloaded the hp simplesave software again from hp but when I open that it says you must use the hp software from its original location??
Any ideas please??

    The software is on the simple save drive. Explore the drive and you should find it.

    When I plug it in it doesnt appear anywhere on "my computer" not in hard disk drives or anywhere else..Where would it be to open it to explore it please?
