Experian Question

Hello fine people,

just a quick question, i signed up to Experian today for the first timw to check my credit report, thinking i would check and then close before th 30 free trial expires but upon signing up and confirming everything i was visited with a message stating ' in order to process your creditExpert application, we need to do further checks to confirm your identity. this is to help protect your info and ensure that only you get access to your experian credit report and score'

and then it on stating it will be complete within 2 working days.

My question is:
1. is this normal? (i read people on here stating they were able to see their credit report instantly)

2. will i be able print out my report for filing purposes?

    Hi

    1) Think its the norm now, my girlfriend signed up just to see her report but couldn't just like you. sent her a letter in the post after a few days in which you had to confirm a pin in the letter

I think its because she's been known to have more than 1 address etc on file and just want to confirm its you

    2) Yes!

Not sure if its the norm and neither should you be concerned either. Mine was all set up electronically and no further information was sent to me other than a welcome letter.
  • I would try to go through another credit score company. I just think the extra hoops might be necessary but it should still be an 'instant' result like they tout on their ads. See what the others tell you, just try not to spend any money in the process. When I first started on my credit I signed up to get the CreditInform report every quarter, but they charged $5.99/ month! Needless-to-say it was cancelled once I got the right idea.

I wouldn't do this as most lenders search Experian. They can't just give your credit report out without verifying who you are (would you want them just to give it to anyone who knew your name, address and date of birth?) and sending something to your registered address is one day to do this
  • Thank you, i guess my concern is its the first time i have done this, i did print the page where this message appeared and they did have all secure bits on top of the page and they did add the number of customer service.

I will wait a couple days and see if this email comes (they stated this is how i will be able to connect) and then if not i will be on the phone.

i am very suspicious giving out my ID and details on the net, luckily my work server is completely safe but still first time
