Help with choosing gas provider please

Hi, I'm currently on pay as go, gas and electric. Electric isn't too bad at about £10 sometimes less a week, but gas is in the region of 20-25+. So ideally I'd like to just change that, but my question is, would quarterly pay be the best and with which provider? I also dont mind switching both if it works out cheaper. Thanks

Certainly, Gas & Elec would be cheaper through standard meters rather than PAYG, but only if you pay by monthly Direct Debit - Paying Qtly would cost almost as much as PAYG

Some suppliers want a fee to swap from PAYG meters to Standard, others will do it for free, but all will require a tidy credit record

    Use a comparison site.

Best to use your annual consumption in kWh figures for most accurate output - you should be able to get these from your current supplier if you don't have them :)
  • Sorry about the delay, I received no notifications :s Well anyway, Im currently on British gas, and from what I've read, they change over to a credit meter for free, so should I just do this and get do pay monthy DD or is it maybe worth thinking about switching providers or is that not really that worth it?

There is no 'best' or 'cheapest'. It depends on region and usage.
If the provider you want will not change the meter for free, then switch to one who will (on a non-ETC tariff), and then switch again once the meter has been changed.
Only you can say if it's 'worth it'.
Since a PPM costs the same as standard tariff, you'll save between 4 and 6% on a monthly DD online discount tariff.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
