New line needed - BT, Madasafish, others?

My daughter needs a landline and ideally broadband. She wanted to follow Martin's recommendation for the Talktalk £20 p/m package which matches her needs very well, but although there is a line into the house there is no BT linebox.
Talktalk say they can't can't provide a new line, only transfer an existing one.
The BT installation charge of £125 is do-able, but it seems to lock you into a contract for 12 months, and the BT phone and BB package is quite a bit more expensive, and it goes up by £5 after 3 months.

Madasafish will provide a line (via BT engineers) for £115 but the required package is about the same price as BT and it seems you can't use CPS.

Are there any other options?

Thanks

  • Hi

If your daughter is a Vodafone customer, she can get Line Rental, Broadband and Inclusive UK landline calls for £25 per month.

Plus if there isn't a line already installed, they can arrnge it for you for a charge of £105.

I'm moving into a new build next week and they are supplying the line instead of BT - I've heard nothing but praise for Vodafone on it's new service!

    BT - 129.95
    Vodafone - 105
    Masadasfish - 115

What is the contract length for each of them??

    BT One Year.

Voda 18 months, requires you to take their Broadband and if you cease to be a Voda Mobile Contract holder it goes up to £35 a month.

Madasafish. Not clear suggest you ask them

    And BT's price is £124.99 not £129.95
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
